The Punjab Traffic Police have introduced a new technology-driven e-challan system under which every traffic violation ticket will now include photo & video evidence, making the enforcement process more transparent and reliable.
According to the Traffic Police, all challans across Punjab will now be issued through the Traffic Police One App, which automatically attaches images and video recordings of the traffic violation. The initiative has been launched on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as part of efforts to modernize traffic management and improve public confidence.
Under the new system, motorists who violate traffic rules will receive an SMS from 8070. The message will contain a secure link allowing recipients to view the photos and videos related to their traffic violation. This feature enables drivers to verify the evidence before paying the fine, reducing confusion and improving transparency.
DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir said the evidence-based challan system will help eliminate unnecessary disputes between motorists and traffic police officers. By providing clear visual proof of each violation, the system ensures greater fairness while saving time for both citizens and law enforcement officials.

He added that the availability of photographic and video evidence will also strengthen legal proceedings against motorists who fail to pay their e-challans or challenge them without valid grounds.

The initiative is also expected to improve compliance with traffic laws by making enforcement more transparent and evidence-based.
The upgraded e-challan system represents another step toward smarter governance and digital public services in Punjab.
