On World Cancer Day, a state-of-the-art cancer treatment machine was installed at the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) in Sindh, Pakistan. The machine, called the MR Linac, was imported at a cost of Rs 3 billion and is the first of its kind in the country. According to Dr. Amjad Hussain Shahani, Administrator of DUHS, the machine will enable the treatment of all types of cancer, including small and large tumors. The machine is equipped with advanced features such as CT scans, MRI, and PET scans.
The installation of the machine was made possible through the collaboration of the Sindh government and DUHS. The university’s administration expressed gratitude to the government and the university for making the installation possible. Notably, the treatment of cancer using this machine costs Rs 2.8 million worldwide, but at DUHS, cancer treatment will be provided free of charge using this advanced technology.
