The State Bank of Pakistan has introduced the “Roshan Apni Car” scheme for overseas Pakistanis holding Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA), allowing them to easily purchase vehicles for their families in Pakistan.

Launched in collaboration with private banks, the initiative aims to provide a smooth, fast, and affordable car financing option for the Pakistani diaspora. Under this scheme, applicants can benefit from competitive markup rates, quicker delivery times, and a fully digital application process.

One of the key highlights of the scheme is its affordability. Financing is offered at below-market rates, with insurance starting as low as 1.4%. The scheme also supports both conventional and Islamic financing, making it accessible to a wider range of users.

Applicants can choose flexible repayment plans ranging from two to seven years. Additionally, individuals are allowed to finance up to three vehicles under the program, depending on eligibility.

Another major advantage is the faster delivery process. Vehicles purchased through this scheme are delivered up to 50% quicker than standard market timelines, reducing long waiting periods often faced by buyers.

The application process is simple and entirely online. Overseas Pakistanis can apply through their bank’s digital portal without the need for complex paperwork. Once submitted, applications are usually approved within four days, making the process highly efficient.

The scheme offers two main financing options. Under the floating rate system, customers can choose between lien-based financing—where funds are secured against RDA deposits or Naya Pakistan Certificates—or non-lien-based financing linked to the 6-month KIBOR rate. A fixed-rate option is also available, where the markup remains unchanged throughout the loan period based on prevailing bank rates.

Overall, the Roshan Apni Car scheme is designed to strengthen financial inclusion, support overseas Pakistanis, and make vehicle ownership easier for families back home.
