In a landmark step for emergency response, the Punjab government has introduced Pakistan’s first-ever airlift drone service for rescue missions. This cutting-edge technology is designed to save lives in disaster-hit regions, especially during floods when access becomes nearly impossible.
The drone has the remarkable ability to airlift individuals weighing up to 200 kilograms, making it a vital tool for transporting stranded victims to safety. Officials noted that such capacity will be especially crucial in reaching people trapped in remote or submerged areas where conventional rescue vehicles cannot operate.
After undergoing successful test flights in Lahore, the drone has now been deployed in Multan to assist with ongoing flood relief operations in South Punjab. Early demonstrations have already shown its effectiveness in rapidly reaching and evacuating those in danger.
Building on this success, the government has approved the purchase of ten additional drones, signaling a major investment in modern disaster management. This initiative marks a technological leap for Pakistan’s rescue infrastructure and sets a new precedent for emergency response across the region.
By integrating drone technology into disaster relief, Punjab is not only enhancing its capacity to respond to natural calamities but also paving the way for future innovations in public safety and crisis management.
