During this year’s Hajj season, substantial expenses are being incurred for Pakistani pilgrims’ meals, with the government spending over 1.55 billion Pakistani Rupees. According to sources from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, each pilgrim is being provided with food valued at 34 Saudi Riyals per day, while a fee of 1,360 Riyals is being charged per pilgrim for these meals. These arrangements are managed through 22 companies in Mecca and 13 in Medina, which are responsible for offering pilgrims three wholesome and affordable meals daily.

The ministry states that this system ensures pilgrims receive quality food at rates cheaper than the open market. So far, a total of approximately 88,380 Pakistani pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia under the government scheme, while an additional 27,011 pilgrims are participating through private arrangements. In total, around 115,391 Pakistanis are performing Hajj this year; however, only about 64.39% of Pakistan’s allocated quota of 179,210 pilgrims has been utilized, leaving approximately 63,830 pilgrims unable to perform Hajj this year.

Furthermore, special traditional meals will be served to pilgrims on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah (Eid al-Adha), featuring a hearty breakfast with omelette, halwa, bread, and milk tea; midday meals including chicken Bukhari, mung dal, apples, and bread; and dinner with potatoes, mutton keema, mixed vegetables, Mutton Mutton, green tea, and other items. Along with each meal, pilgrims will be offered juice or Lassi, water, and fresh fruits to meet their hydration and nutritional needs.

Hajj durations vary from 22 to 25 days for shorter pilgrimages, while longer journeys can last up to 40 to 46 days. All these efforts aim to provide pilgrims with not only affordable and quality meals but also comfort and convenience during their sacred journey. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has taken comprehensive steps to ensure that pilgrims can perform Hajj with ease, comfort, and spiritual focus, making this year’s pilgrimage a smooth and blessed experience.
