Two Asian Hajj pilgrims a 60 year old Pakistani and a 77 year-old Indonesian have successfully undergone emergency cardiac catheterization at Madinah’s Heart and Surgery Center, part of the Saudi Health Ministry’s preparations to provide comprehensive medical services during the pilgrimage season.
The Pakistani pilgrim was diagnosed with coronary artery blockage and immediately received two stents in his right coronary artery and left anterior descending artery during the successful procedure. Meanwhile, the Indonesian pilgrim – who suffered from hypertension, chronic kidney disease and diabetes – was admitted in critical condition with acute coronary syndrome, cardiogenic shock and dangerously low blood pressure. Medical teams performed emergency angioplasty, opening his left circumflex artery and implanting two drug-eluting stents, leading to full recovery.
