Pakistan’s nationwide goods transporters’ strike has entered its eighth day, severely disrupting the movement of goods, import and export cargo, and containers across the country.
According to media reports, transporters claim that the ongoing strike has caused economic losses of more than Rs. 50 billion so far. They said around 10,000 containers normally leave the country’s ports each day, but transportation has largely come to a halt due to the strike.

The disruption is affecting supply chains and the movement of commercial goods across major routes. Transporters say their demands have yet to receive a meaningful response from the Ministries of Communications, Finance and Petroleum, while a deadlock also continues with provincial governments.
The prolonged shutdown could further pressure businesses and industries that depend on regular cargo movement, particularly importers, exporters and manufacturers.
Goods transporters are demanding action on their concerns and have continued the nationwide strike until progress is made on their demands.
