The Sindh cabinet has approved the Agricultural Income Tax Bill 2025, paving the way for the collection of taxes on agricultural income in the province. According to the bill, the Sindh Revenue Board will be responsible for collecting the tax, instead of the Agricultural Income Tax Revenue Board.
The cabinet also approved the digitization of its meeting proceedings, aiming to increase transparency and efficiency. Additionally, the cabinet granted approval for the provision of solar home systems by the National Rural Telecommunications Corporation (NRTC).
A two-year report on the NFC Award was also presented during the meeting, revealing that the provincial government has collected Rs. 73.16 billion in arrears under the NFC Award over the past three years.
The approval of the agricultural income tax bill is a significant step towards increasing revenue generation in the province. The Sindh government aims to utilize the collected tax revenue for the development of the agricultural sector and to provide relief to farmers affected by natural disasters.
The cabinet’s decisions are expected to have a positive impact on the province’s economy and agricultural sector. The digitization of meeting proceedings and the provision of solar home systems are also significant steps towards increasing transparency and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
