The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Pakistan has issued a reminder urging all eligible taxpayers to file their annual income tax returns before the deadline of 30th September 2025. Filing returns is not only a legal requirement but also a civic responsibility that brings transparency, financial benefits, and recognition as an active taxpayer. Those with an annual income of Rs. 300,000 or above, owners of vehicles above 1,000cc, property worth Rs. 500,000 or more in urban areas, or electricity usage of 1,000 units annually are obligated to file. Additionally, individuals with a 500-square-yard plot, members of professional associations, and companies registered under the Companies Ordinance must comply. FBR warns that failure to file on time will lead to penalties, exclusion from the Active Taxpayers List (ATL), higher tax deductions, and potential legal action. Conversely, timely filing ensures lower tax rates, avoidance of fines, and the opportunity to support Pakistan’s economic progress. The FBR emphasizes that compliance strengthens national development while giving taxpayers peace of mind and financial relief. For assistance, FBR has provided a helpline (051-111-772-772) and an email (helpline@fbr.gov.pk). Taxpayers are encouraged to fulfill their duty promptly and responsibly to avoid inconvenience.
