Two Eid congregations were organized at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail one at the central mosque and another at the jail’s Imambargah to accommodate inmates observing Eid-ul-Adha. However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan did not attend the prayers. Jail authorities confirmed that Khan had been informed about the prayer arrangements in advance but chose to remain in his cell during the prayer timings.

Security concerns were also cited as a factor in his absence, with officials emphasizing precautionary measures given Khan’s high-profile status. This marks the second consecutive Eid that the former premier has spent in detention, following his arrest in 2023 on multiple charges. His legal team has raised concerns over prolonged incarceration, while the government maintains that all legal protocols are being followed.

The subdued Eid observance highlights Khan’s ongoing political and legal struggles, even as PTI supporters continue to demand his release. Meanwhile, jail authorities ensured other inmates could perform Eid prayers, with separate arrangements made for Sunni and Shia prisoners.
