Details of Taxes Collected from Mobile Companies Revealed

The details of taxes collected from mobile companies have been presented in the National Assembly. According to the Ministry of Finance, over the past nine months, mobile companies have collected a total of 84 billion 24 crore 90 lakh rupees in taxes, which are deposited into the national treasury.

The session was chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. During the question period, Parliamentary Secretary and Overseas Pakistanis Minister, Barrister Saad Waseem, informed that the number of Pakistani diaspora digital accounts has reached 805,009, with a total of approximately $998 million received. Overseas Pakistanis can open digital accounts in 10 foreign currencies.

The Ministry of Education reported that under the Federal Directorate of Education, there are 432 schools and colleges in Islamabad 149 in urban areas and 283 in rural areas. Additionally, the federal government oversees a total of 46 universities across the country, including 31 public universities and 15 private institutions.

The details of taxes paid by mobile companies were also shared. The Ministry of Finance stated that over nine months, mobile companies collected a total of 84 billion 24 crore 90 lakh rupees in taxes, which are deposited into the national treasury.

Furthermore, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reported that through amendments in tax laws, 2,391,566 new taxpayers have been registered. As of April 29, 2025, the number of taxpayers who filed returns has increased to 6,594,832. The Business Association of Persons has 106,118 members, and 93,749 companies have submitted their tax returns.

This transparency highlights the government’s efforts to enhance tax collection and expand the formal economy, ensuring greater revenue for national development.
