In a major step to curb mobile phone theft and illegal sales, the Sindh Government has made it mandatory to verify every mobile phone purchase through the CPLC (Citizens-Police Liaison Committee) before completing the transaction.

Under this new rule, retailers and buyers must confirm that a mobile phone is not stolen or snatched before selling or buying it. If a shopkeeper is caught selling or buying a stolen mobile phone, they will now face legal punishment. This move is part of a broader initiative to bring transparency and accountability into the mobile phone trade in Karachi.

The Sindh Government spokesperson emphasized that all mobile phone transactions must now be documented. Sellers will be required to record the buyer’s CNIC copy (National Identity Card), contact number, and phone details at the time of sale.

This policy aims to deter the resale of stolen phones, which has been a persistent issue in the city. By involving CPLC in real-time verification, authorities hope to create a system that will make it nearly impossible for thieves to sell stolen phones back into the market.

In addition to the mobile phone policy, the government is also launching a strict crackdown against the illegal trade of stolen car parts. The goal is to protect citizens, reduce crime, and promote lawful business practices across the city.

These new measures will not only protect mobile phone owners but also help retailers stay safe from unknowingly getting involved in criminal activity. Buyers are now advised to always demand CPLC clearance before making a purchase to ensure they’re buying a legitimate device.
