The Punjab Government has decided to ban the purchase of petrol and diesel vehicles for all government departments, marking a major step toward environmentally friendly transportation.
The proposal has been approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif as part of the province’s broader shift toward sustainable and clean mobility. According to the Punjab government spokesperson, only electric and hybrid vehicles will be permitted for official government use going forward.
However, vehicles required for field duties have been exempted from this restriction to ensure uninterrupted operational activities.
