The federal government has announced a reduction in profit rates for several National Savings Schemes, lowering returns for pensioners, regular investors, and welfare account holders across Pakistan.

Under the revised rates, the Regular Income Certificate (RIC) will now offer an annual profit rate of 11.52 percent. This means that an investment of Rs. 100,000 will now generate a monthly profit of approximately Rs. 960, bringing monthly earnings below the Rs. 1,000 mark.

According to an official notification issued by National Savings, the annual profit rate on the Behbood Savings Certificate and the Pensioners’ Benefit Account has been reduced to 12.96 percent. These schemes are widely used by senior citizens and retired government employees for stable monthly income.

The Special Savings Certificate has also seen revised returns, with an annualized profit rate of 11.2 percent for the first six months and 12.6 percent for the remaining six months of the investment period.

In addition, the government has lowered the annual profit rate on the Shuhada Family Welfare Account to 12.96 percent, affecting families who rely on these savings for financial support.

The revised profit rates have taken effect immediately following the official notification. While the adjustment reflects changing market conditions and monetary policy, it also means lower monthly returns for thousands of investors who depend on National Savings Schemes as a secure source of income.
