Toyota has called on Japan’s leading automakers to strengthen cooperation as Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers continue to expand rapidly in global markets. Toyota Vice Chairman Koji Sato, who also serves as chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), has urged Japanese carmakers to work together by sharing common standards, technologies, and vehicle components.
According to Sato, greater collaboration would help reduce development costs, improve manufacturing efficiency, accelerate innovation, and enhance the global competitiveness of both major and smaller Japanese brands.
