Pakistan has invited investors from Kazakhstan to explore new opportunities in its maritime sector, particularly at Gwadar and Karachi ports. The initiative aims to strengthen international investment in port infrastructure and expand regional trade connectivity between South Asia and Central Asia.
The invitation was extended by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry during a meeting with an 11-member Kazakh delegation led by Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp. Both sides discussed potential cooperation in key areas such as transshipment operations, multipurpose terminals, and development of dry-dock and floating-dock facilities at Pakistan’s major ports.

Officials highlighted the strategic importance of Gwadar Port and Karachi Port as vital trade hubs in the region. They emphasized that Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure provides strong investment potential for international partners looking to access markets in the Gulf, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The government believes that enhanced port development can transform Pakistan into a key logistics gateway for regional trade.
The Kazakh delegation expressed strong interest in investing in Pakistan’s maritime and logistics sectors, reflecting growing confidence in the country’s economic direction and port development policies. Discussions also included broader cooperation in road, rail, and air connectivity between Pakistan and Central Asian states, with a focus on improving trade integration and transport efficiency.
Minister Junaid Chaudhry also invited Freedom Holding Corp. to participate in Pakistan’s expanding blue economy initiatives. He stated that collaboration in maritime development would not only benefit Pakistan but also provide Kazakhstan and other landlocked Central Asian countries with improved access to global markets. Both sides agreed to continue exploring long-term strategic investment opportunities in the coming months.
