Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has been plagued by significant project delays, resulting in the inability to utilize a staggering Rs 5 billion in funds allocated by the federal government over the past decade. According to reports, SSGCL was only able to use Rs 2.8 billion, leaving a whopping Rs 3.6 billion unutilized.

The situation is further exacerbated by the Sindh government’s allocation of Rs 2.17 billion for SSGCL’s projects over the same period, which the company failed to use entirely. Officials point to project management incompetence as the primary reason for this failure, highlighting that the effective utilization of funds would have significantly improved SSGCL’s infrastructure and potentially attracted additional funding from the government.

This revelation raises serious concerns about the company’s ability to manage large-scale projects and allocate resources efficiently. The unutilized funds could have been invested in upgrading SSGCL’s infrastructure, enhancing its services, and promoting economic growth in the region. Instead, the company’s inefficiencies have resulted in a significant waste of resources, undermining the government’s efforts to support the gas sector.

As SSGCL continues to grapple with project delays and funding inefficiencies, it is essential for the company to reassess its project management strategies and ensure that allocated funds are utilized effectively to drive growth and development in the sector.
