The Kuwait Municipality has launched a nationwide cleaning campaign across all governorates to improve public hygiene and maintain cleaner streets. According to official statements, field teams from public hygiene departments will continue these operations until the end of April. The main goal of this initiative is to identify violations, remove waste, and take legal action against those who fail to follow cleanliness rules.

The campaign started in Hawally Governorate, where inspection teams are actively reviewing sanitation services in different areas. Authorities are not only focusing on cleaning roads and removing obstructions but also monitoring the performance of cleaning contractors and public hygiene companies. In addition, teams are keeping a close watch on street vendors to ensure they follow regulations and do not contribute to public disorder.

At the same time, Kuwait Municipality has introduced another major reform by replacing traditional street and road names with numerical designations. This move is part of a broader government plan to standardize naming systems across the country. The change follows Cabinet Resolution No. 666, which requires renaming main roads and streets for better organization and navigation.

Under this plan, around 591 streets will be assigned numbers, while 66 streets will keep their current names, and three streets will be renamed after Arab cities and capitals. The decision was approved by the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Abdul Latif Al-Mishari, after recommendations from the Municipal Council.

These combined efforts show Kuwait’s commitment to improving urban management, cleanliness, and infrastructure. By enforcing strict hygiene standards and simplifying street naming, the government aims to create a more organized and cleaner environment for residents and visitors across the country.
