The Lahore Traffic Police has imposed a strict ban on loader rickshaws and Qingqi vehicles on major roads, including Canal Road, as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and enhance public safety across the city. The decision comes after the temporary Eid-ul-Adha relaxation granted for the transportation of sacrificial animals has officially ended.

According to traffic authorities, special enforcement teams and additional personnel have been deployed at key points in the city to ensure smooth implementation of the new restrictions. The move aims to reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and maintain orderly traffic management during peak hours.

Officials have warned that strict legal action, including the registration of criminal cases, will be taken against individuals found transporting steel bars, iron rods, or other heavy construction materials on restricted urban routes. Such violations are considered a major risk to road safety and public life.

In addition, the traffic police have launched a separate crackdown on auto-rickshaws carrying passengers beyond their permitted capacity. Overloading has been identified as a key contributor to road accidents and traffic delays in the city.

Authorities stated that these measures are part of a broader strategy to modernize traffic regulation, enforce discipline on roads, and ensure safer commuting conditions for citizens. The public has also been urged to cooperate with law enforcement and follow traffic rules to avoid penalties.

The Lahore Traffic Police emphasized that maintaining smooth traffic flow in a densely populated city like Lahore requires strict enforcement as well as public awareness. Officials added that similar operations will continue in the coming days to ensure long-term improvements in urban mobility and road safety standards.
