Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that this is the second time Iran entered negotiations with the United States only to face attacks during the talks. He stated that military action taking place in the middle of discussions damages trust and weakens the spirit of diplomacy. His remarks came as tensions increased following joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.

Araghchi stressed that Iran has always been open to dialogue and peaceful solutions. He said diplomacy remains the best path forward, but meaningful talks require seriousness and mutual respect from all sides. According to him, negotiations cannot succeed if one party continues military actions while discussions are ongoing.

At the same time, he defended Iran’s response to the strikes, saying the country is acting in self-defence. He explained that protecting national security and citizens is a basic right under international principles. Araghchi called for efforts to prevent further escalation and urged a return to diplomatic engagement to avoid wider regional instability.
