A team of Pakistani students has developed PathVerse AR, an innovative indoor navigation app that helps users find their way inside large buildings without relying on GPS or an internet connection.

The app uses augmented reality (AR) and offline mapping technology to provide real-time, step-by-step directions within complex indoor environments. It can also automatically recalculate the route if a user takes a wrong turn, making navigation more accurate and user-friendly.

The project was showcased at IoBM’s TechNova event, where students from more than 35 universities presented innovative ideas and technology-driven solutions. PathVerse AR stood out for its practical approach to solving a common problem faced in large buildings such as universities, hospitals, shopping malls, and government offices.

In addition to guiding users to their destinations, the app can help locate classrooms, offices, departments, and other important facilities, saving time and improving convenience for visitors and staff alike.

The student developers plan to expand the technology beyond educational institutions by introducing it in hospitals, commercial centers, and public buildings across Pakistan. They also aim to make the platform more inclusive by enhancing accessibility features for people with disabilities, ensuring everyone can navigate indoor spaces with greater ease.

PathVerse AR highlights the growing innovation emerging from Pakistan’s young tech talent and demonstrates how locally developed solutions can address real-world challenges through cutting-edge technology.
