A delegation led by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Faheem ur Rehman Sehgal met Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain to discuss heavy charges imposed by RUDA on industries operating in Daroghawala and Saggian areas of Lahore. The meeting was attended by senior industrialists, former chamber presidents, government officials, and RUDA CEO Imran Amin through video link.
The delegation informed the minister that RUDA had imposed charges of Rs8 million per kanal on industrial units in the area, creating serious concern among business owners. Faheem ur Rehman Sehgal said nearly 1,500 small industrial units are operating in Daroghawala and Saggian, providing jobs to around 150,000 families. He warned that such high charges could force many factories to shut down and damage local employment.

Former FCCI President Mian Anjum Nisar also demanded an immediate solution, saying cottage industries in the area play an important role in Punjab’s economy. He urged authorities to protect small businesses and workers linked to these industries.
Punjab Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain assured the delegation that the matter would be resolved through mutual consultation. He said the government would review the RUDA charges again and ensure industries continue operating without unnecessary pressure. The minister added that industrial growth is important for creating employment opportunities and the Punjab government will not allow the industrial wheel to stop.
RUDA CEO Imran Amin announced that no action would be taken against factories until a final decision on the charges is reached. He also said FIRs registered against factories would be withdrawn. However, he stressed that industries must fully follow environmental protection laws and SOPs.
Industrialists thanked Chaudhry Shafay Hussain for listening to their concerns and supporting the business community.
