Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said that Pakistan Railways is opening new doors for private sector participation to improve infrastructure, expand freight services, and develop commercial projects across the country. He shared these views during a meeting with Nishat Group Chairman Mian Muhammad Mansha in Lahore.
During the discussion, the minister explained that involving the private sector will help modernize railway infrastructure and improve operational efficiency. He said Pakistan Railways is working on different plans to attract investment that can support the development of railway stations, cargo facilities, and related commercial projects.

Hanif Abbasi emphasized that partnerships with major business groups can play an important role in making Pakistan Railways financially stronger. He said the government is committed to creating a transparent and investor-friendly environment so that private companies can participate in projects with confidence.
The minister also highlighted the importance of the railway sector in supporting Pakistan’s economy. He said an efficient railway system can reduce transportation costs, strengthen trade, and provide better services for passengers and businesses across the country.
During the meeting, Mian Muhammad Mansha showed interest in exploring investment opportunities within Pakistan Railways. He assured that the Nishat Group would look into potential areas of collaboration and evaluate possible partnerships with the organization.
Both sides agreed that cooperation between the government and private sector can help bring new investment, improve railway services, and contribute to the overall economic development of Pakistan.
