Lahore traffic police have intensified action against drivers who repeatedly violate traffic laws and fail to pay their e-challan fines, with one driver arrested after accumulating 80 traffic violations and more than Rs. 410,000 in outstanding fines.

Under the direction of Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, authorities have prepared a list of the top 100 e-challan defaulters. With support from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, traffic police have been directed to identify and take action against vehicles whose owners repeatedly ignore traffic violations and unpaid penalties.

During the crackdown, a pickup driver listed among the top 10 defaulters was arrested. Police said he had accumulated more than Rs. 410,000 in fines from 80 violations.

Authorities also alleged that the driver used a fake number plate in an attempt to avoid detection through the e-challan system. However, the vehicle reportedly received another Rs. 21,000 in fines under the fake registration number.

A case has also been registered against the driver at Nawan Kot Police Station.

The crackdown comes as Lahore traffic authorities increase efforts to enforce digital traffic monitoring and ensure that repeated offenders cannot simply ignore their penalties.

Officials have also restricted access to 14 important police services for e-challan defaulters. These include services related to driving licences, character certificates and police verification.

The latest action sends a clear warning to motorists that repeatedly violating traffic laws and leaving e-challans unpaid could result in both financial penalties and legal consequences.
