The Kia Picanto has officially been discontinued in Pakistan, marking the end of its nearly six-year journey in the local automobile market.
Lucky Motor Corporation has reportedly removed the 1,000cc hatchback from Kia’s current lineup, with dealerships no longer accepting new bookings for the model.
The Picanto was launched in Pakistan in September 2019 as a compact city car aimed at buyers looking for a modern alternative in the small-car segment. However, it struggled to compete with established models such as the Suzuki Cultus and Wagon R, which remained popular among Pakistani consumers.

Several factors reportedly contributed to the Picanto’s weaker market performance. These included concerns over fuel economy, relatively expensive spare parts and weaker resale value compared with some competing locally popular hatchbacks.
The car also became increasingly expensive over the years, making it less attractive to budget-conscious buyers. Rising vehicle prices across Pakistan further intensified competition in the small-car segment.
Despite the discontinuation, current Picanto owners will not be left without support. Kia’s dealer network is expected to continue providing after-sales services and spare parts for existing vehicles.
The Picanto’s departure highlights the challenges automakers face in Pakistan’s highly price-sensitive market, where fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, resale value and affordability play a major role in purchasing decisions.
For existing Picanto owners, the car will remain on Pakistani roads, but new buyers will soon have to look elsewhere as Kia reshapes its local product lineup.
