Murree Police have issued an important traffic advisory for tourists planning to visit the popular hill station. The advisory urges visitors to avoid using the Old GT Road because of ongoing major road carpeting and repair work. Authorities have recommended that tourists instead use the Murree Expressway and other alternative routes to reach their destinations safely and without unnecessary delays.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Raza Tanveer, stated that the Murree Expressway is currently the safest and most suitable route for entering the city. However, due to the diversion of traffic from the Old GT Road, the Expressway has experienced heavier traffic volumes than usual. To manage this increased flow, police have deployed additional personnel at key points across the city. Special attention is being given to managing traffic on Bustan Mor, Masiari Link Road, and Jhika Gali Road, which serve as important access routes to central Murree and its popular tourist spots.

DPO Tanveer also advised tourists to use technology to plan their travel. He suggested checking live traffic conditions on Google Maps before starting the journey and continuing to monitor updates while on the road. He also recommended downloading the Safe Tourism Murree mobile application, which provides real-time information about traffic, weather conditions, parking availability, and emergency assistance. This app is designed to make travel safer and more convenient for both new and returning visitors.
The advisory comes as Murree continues to attract large numbers of tourists, especially during holidays and weekends. The combination of road repairs and increased visitor numbers can lead to heavy congestion, especially in narrow and hilly areas. Police have urged tourists to remain patient, follow traffic rules, and cooperate with officers stationed along the routes.
Authorities have also asked tourists to avoid parking on main roads and to use designated parking areas to prevent blockages. Any violation of traffic rules may result in fines or towing of vehicles.
