In a special meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz Sharif, it was decided to bring Lahore’s traffic system under complete discipline through strict enforcement of rules and modern monitoring methods.
The Chief Minister directed authorities to ensure that lane discipline and road markings are followed at all times, without any exceptions. Major roads across the city will be transformed into model corridors, where traffic rules will be strictly implemented to improve flow and reduce congestion.
PUNJAB GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES MAJOR RELIEF FOR OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS
To strengthen enforcement, officials have been instructed to use mobile cameras for real-time monitoring, allowing authorities to detect violations more effectively. A strong stance has also been taken against motorcycle riders involved in zigzag driving, with orders that such vehicles will be impounded at police stations for three days.
The government has announced zero tolerance for key violations, including:
- Breaking one-way traffic rules
- Illegal roadside parking
- Ignoring lane discipline
Authorities emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating these regulations, regardless of status or influence.
Recent statistics highlight the seriousness of the campaign. In just six months, over 500,000 challans (fines) have been issued, and more than 100,000 vehicles have been impounded, showing a clear shift toward strict law enforcement in the city.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving urban traffic management, road safety, and public discipline, aiming to make Lahore’s roads more organized, safer, and efficient for all commuters.
