Pakistan’s Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) has introduced a new hypersonic anti-ship ballistic missile named “SMASH” at the World Defense Show 2026 currently being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The unveiling of the SMASH missile marks a significant development in Pakistan’s defense technology capabilities. The system was presented as part of GIDS’ participation in the international exhibition, which brings together leading defense manufacturers, military officials, and security experts from around the world.
According to initial information shared at the event, the SMASH missile is designed to target high-value naval assets, including aircraft carriers and large warships. As a hypersonic system, it is capable of traveling at extremely high speeds, making it difficult to detect and intercept. Hypersonic weapons typically travel at speeds greater than Mach 5, significantly reducing reaction time for enemy defense systems.
Defense analysts attending the exhibition noted that anti-ship ballistic missiles play an important role in modern naval warfare, especially in enhancing maritime deterrence. Such systems are designed to strike moving targets at sea with high precision, using advanced guidance and maneuvering capabilities.

The World Defense Show in Riyadh is one of the region’s major defense exhibitions, providing a platform for countries to demonstrate their latest military technologies and explore potential defense partnerships. Pakistan’s participation reflects its efforts to expand its footprint in the global defense market and strengthen strategic cooperation with friendly nations.
While detailed technical specifications of the SMASH missile have not yet been made public, its introduction signals Pakistan’s continued focus on advancing indigenous defense production and modernizing its strategic capabilities.
The unveiling of the hypersonic anti-ship ballistic missile underscores Pakistan’s intention to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving field of advanced missile systems and maritime defense technologies.
