Ferrari has entered a new era by launching its first fully electric car, named “Luce,” meaning “light” in Italian. The vehicle was designed with the creative vision linked to famous designer Sir Jony Ive. It is Ferrari’s first-ever five-seater electric model and promises extreme performance, reaching 0 to 96 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. The luxury car is priced at around $640,000, which is nearly 18 crore Pakistani rupees.

Despite the high expectations, the launch has received strong criticism from experts, investors, and even political figures. Many believe that the design and concept of the new electric Ferrari do not match the brand’s traditional identity, which is known for powerful petrol engines and iconic styling.

Soon after the official unveiling, Ferrari’s market value also faced pressure, with shares reportedly dropping by around 8 percent. This sharp decline shows that investor confidence has been affected by the reaction to the new model.

Former Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo also expressed concern about the future impact of this car on the company’s heritage. He warned that such a shift could damage Ferrari’s legendary image. He even suggested that the company should reconsider using its famous “Prancing Horse” logo if the brand moves too far away from its traditional design philosophy.

Many fans around the world are divided. Some see the electric Ferrari as a necessary step toward the future of the automotive industry, while others feel it is a departure from the emotional and powerful driving experience Ferrari is known for.

As the global car market moves toward electric vehicles, Ferrari’s “Luce” has started a major debate about tradition versus innovation in luxury sports cars. The coming months will show whether Ferrari’s bold step becomes a success or a costly mistake.
