Dubai has introduced a major welfare initiative for delivery riders who spend long hours working outdoors in extreme summer temperatures. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has activated 40 fully air-conditioned rest areas across the city, providing riders with safe and comfortable spaces to take breaks during their shifts.

The facilities have been specially designed for delivery workers who travel throughout the city delivering food, parcels, and other essential items. Each rest area offers a cool environment, seating arrangements, and other basic amenities to help riders recover from the intense heat, which often exceeds 45°C during the summer months.

The initiative has received widespread praise on social media, with many users describing it as a timely and compassionate step. Supporters noted that delivery riders play a vital role in keeping daily services running and deserve access to proper facilities that protect their health and well-being while they work in challenging conditions.

Many riders have also welcomed the move, expressing appreciation for the improved working conditions. Some shared messages of gratitude, highlighting how the rest areas will help reduce fatigue and provide much-needed relief during the hottest parts of the day.

According to authorities, the primary goal of the project is to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of delivery riders. By offering accessible cooling stations across Dubai, the RTA aims to create a safer working environment and ensure that riders can continue performing their duties comfortably and efficiently throughout the summer season.
