For Hajj 2026, Pakistan will provide thousands of pilgrims with access to the modern Haramain High-Speed Railway, making travel between Makkah and Madinah faster and more comfortable. This major step is expected to improve the overall Hajj experience for Pakistani pilgrims by reducing long travel hours and ensuring better facilities.
The Haramain High-Speed Railway covers a distance of 453 kilometers and connects the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. The railway line also links Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City. Previously, pilgrims had to travel by bus, which usually took six to eight hours depending on traffic and weather conditions. With the high-speed train, the same journey will now take less than two and a half hours. This will save time, reduce fatigue, and provide a safer and more convenient travel option.
Pakistan Requests Saudi Arabia to Increase Hajj 2026 Quota
According to official details, a total of 179,210 Pakistani pilgrims will perform Hajj in 2026. Out of these, 119,210 pilgrims will travel under the government Hajj scheme, while the remaining will perform Hajj through private tour operators. The government’s pilot project will initially offer the train facility to selected groups of pilgrims to test and improve arrangements before expanding it further.
The pilot project also includes hotel-to-station transfer services to ensure smooth movement for pilgrims. Special arrangements will be made to transport pilgrims from their hotels in Makkah or Madinah to the railway station. In addition, a luggage handling service will be provided so that pilgrims do not have to carry heavy bags themselves. This facility is expected to especially benefit elderly pilgrims.
Preparations for Hajj 2026 are now in their final phase. The government has completed most arrangements related to accommodation, transportation, vaccinations, and other essential services. Mandatory Hajj training sessions have been organized in 107 cities across Pakistan to guide pilgrims about rituals, safety measures, and travel procedures.
Officials say that these improved arrangements reflect Pakistan’s commitment to providing better facilities for its pilgrims. The introduction of the Haramain High-Speed Railway is a significant step toward modernizing Hajj travel and ensuring a smoother and more comfortable spiritual journey for thousands of Pakistani pilgrims.
