The Government of Punjab has issued a public notice making it mandatory to obtain a Green Property Certificate for all types of land and property transactions across the province. This new requirement is aimed at improving transparency, ensuring legal protection, and reducing fraud in the real estate sector.
Under this initiative, property buyers and sellers will need to secure the Green Property Certificate before completing any transaction. The certificate serves as an official verification document, confirming that the property records are clear and legally compliant. By introducing this system, authorities aim to create a more secure and trustworthy environment for property dealings.
To encourage early adoption, the government has announced a concessional fee of just 900 rupees for a limited time during the initial phase. This reduced fee is intended to make the process accessible to a wider population and motivate citizens to regularize their property records without financial burden.

Officials have urged the public to take advantage of this opportunity and obtain their certificates promptly. Having a Green Property Certificate not only protects ownership rights but also helps prevent disputes, illegal transfers, and fraudulent claims.
This step is being seen as part of broader efforts to modernize the property registration system in Punjab, making it more efficient, transparent, and digitally accessible. For property owners and investors, it represents a significant move toward secure and legally protected real estate transactions.
