Pakistan received $3.6 billion in remittances from overseas Pakistanis in July 2026, marking a strong increase in inflows and providing a boost to the country’s foreign exchange position.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the latest figures, saying remittances increased by 13% year-on-year and 4.5% compared with the previous month.
The rise highlights the continued contribution of overseas Pakistanis to the national economy, particularly at a time when Pakistan is working to strengthen its foreign exchange reserves and reduce pressure on external financing.
Remittances are a major source of foreign exchange for Pakistan and play an important role in supporting household incomes, consumption and the country’s balance of payments.

The latest increase also reflects continued use of formal channels by overseas Pakistanis to send money back home.
The government has been encouraging overseas Pakistanis to use official banking and digital channels for remittances, with the aim of increasing documented inflows and strengthening the country’s financial system.
The $3.6 billion July inflow provides a positive start to the new fiscal year and could offer additional support to Pakistan’s external account if the strong trend continues in the coming months.
