In a positive development for travelers and the aviation industry, two new airlines one passenger and one cargo are set to begin operations in Pakistan in the near future. The move is expected to provide greater convenience for passengers while also boosting trade and exports.

According to airport sources, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and the concerned airlines have completed all necessary preparations to launch their services.

Air Karachi to Launch Domestic Flights

A new passenger airline named Air Karachi is reportedly finalizing arrangements to lease aircraft. Sources indicate that the airline is likely to begin its formal flight operations in May or June this year.

Initially, Air Karachi will operate domestic flights connecting major cities including:

  • Lahore
  • Islamabad
  • Karachi
  • Sukkur
  • Multan
  • Quetta
  • Peshawar

After completing its first year of domestic operations, the airline plans to expand into international routes as well.

Expansion in Cargo Sector

Significant progress is also being made in Pakistan’s air cargo sector. According to airport officials, TCS is in the process of acquiring a Boeing 747-400 series aircraft, which will initially be used exclusively for cargo operations.

Additionally, K2 Air, which is already operating cargo services, is expanding its fleet and preparing to acquire another Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

Industry sources note that Pakistan’s air cargo market has long been dominated by foreign airlines. However, the entry and expansion of local companies are expected to increase competition and support domestic industry and exports.

Growing Demand for Air Travel

Statistics show that approximately 90,000 to 100,000 passengers travel daily to and from Pakistan, both domestically and internationally. Currently, airlines such as Fly Jinnah, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and carriers from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and other countries serve these travelers.

Official Statement

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority stated that all possible facilities and support are being provided to the new airlines to ensure a smooth launch. The aim is to benefit not only passengers but also industrialists and exporters who rely on efficient cargo services.

The introduction of these new airlines is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s aviation sector, improve connectivity, and create new economic opportunities in both passenger travel and cargo transport.
