International red notices have been issued through Interpol for prominent Pakistani businessman Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz in connection with major corruption and money laundering investigations.

According to officials from National Accountability Bureau, the move is part of ongoing efforts to bring both individuals back to Pakistan. Authorities have also contacted the government of United Arab Emirates to support their possible arrest and extradition.

The case is linked to the Bahria Town Karachi project, where large-scale financial irregularities and money laundering allegations are under investigation. Officials claim that inquiries involving more than Rs. 900 billion have been completed, and legal procedures are now being followed to take the matter forward.

Chairman NAB, Lieutenant General (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt, stated that all necessary legal steps are being taken at the international level to ensure the suspects are brought back and face trial. He expressed hope that both Malik Riaz and Ali Riaz will be arrested soon and returned to Pakistan so that the cases can reach a logical conclusion.

Malik Riaz, founder and chairman of Bahria Town, has been a key figure in Pakistan’s real estate sector for decades. His son Ali Riaz currently serves as the company’s chief executive. Over the years, they have faced multiple legal challenges related to land acquisition and financial dealings.

In 2019, both individuals agreed to a settlement with the UK’s National Crime Agency involving £190 million, which included funds linked to property assets in London. Their names have also appeared in other high-profile cases, including the Al-Qadir Trust case.

The issuance of Interpol red notices marks a significant development in the legal process, signaling increased international coordination to address financial crimes and accountability.
