In the early hours of 27 February 2026 at 3:40am, Pakistan launched a large-scale counter operation titled “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq,” targeting positions linked to the Afghan Taliban regime, according to security sources.
Initial reports claim that 133 Afghan Taliban personnel have been confirmed killed, with more than 200 injured. Security officials state that defensive targets in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar were struck, and further casualties are possible as assessments continue.

Sources further report that 27 Taliban posts were destroyed, while nine positions were captured. The operation allegedly targeted two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, two ammunition depots, one logistics base, three battalion headquarters, and two sector headquarters. Additionally, more than 80 tanks, artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers (APCs) were reportedly destroyed.
Officials say that Pakistan’s effective retaliatory action is ongoing. Independent verification of the claims has not yet been confirmed, and no official statement from Afghan authorities has been issued at this time.
