Pakistan is preparing to establish its first chip manufacturing plant in Faisalabad, marking a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward technological and industrial development. The announcement was made by Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment, Chaudhary Shafay Hussain, during a meeting with the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).
According to the minister, land has already been allocated for the project in the M-3 Industrial Estate, a major industrial hub in Faisalabad. The facility is expected to play a key role in strengthening Pakistan’s electronics and technology sector, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing.

The upcoming chip manufacturing plant will support Pakistan’s existing mobile phone assembly units located in Faisalabad, Karachi, and Lahore. Officials believe this initiative will also help Pakistan enter the global semiconductor market, which is considered a critical sector for modern technology. Chips are essential components in smartphones, computers, automobiles, and various industrial machines, making local production a strategic move for long-term economic growth.
In addition to the chip plant, the Punjab government has also allocated 50 acres of land for a state-of-the-art expo centre in Faisalabad. The expo centre is designed to host national and international trade exhibitions, industrial fairs, and business events. It is expected to attract local and foreign investors while promoting Pakistani products and industries on a global platform.
Chaudhary Shafay Hussain stated that Faisalabad’s strong industrial base, skilled workforce, and strategic location make it an ideal city for high-tech manufacturing projects. He added that the government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment and encouraging investment in advanced industries.
Business leaders welcomed the announcement, calling it a positive step toward economic diversification and technological self-reliance. They expressed hope that the project would generate employment opportunities, enhance skills development, and boost exports.
