The World’s Safest Cities List 2025 has been officially released, offering a global snapshot of urban safety and security. The ranking highlights how factors such as crime control, law enforcement efficiency, and overall stability directly impact the quality of life in major cities around the world.

According to the 2025 rankings, Abu Dhabi claimed the top position as the world’s safest city, earning an impressive safety score due to its low crime rate, strong policing system, and advanced security infrastructure. It was followed by Taipei and Doha, while several cities from Europe and the Gulf region dominated the top rankings.

The list was compiled using key indicators, including crime statistics, effectiveness of law enforcement agencies, public safety measures, surveillance systems, and political and social stability. These factors collectively determine how secure residents and visitors feel in an urban environment.

Pakistan did not place among the top 50 safest cities in the world in 2025. However, three major Pakistani cities did appear in the extended global ranking, showing relative progress compared to many other urban centers worldwide.

The capital city, Islamabad, ranked 77th, making it the highest-ranked city from Pakistan. Islamabad’s position reflects comparatively better law and order, planned infrastructure, and security arrangements compared to other cities in the country.

Lahore, Pakistan’s second-largest city, was placed at 112th on the list. While Lahore has made improvements in policing and surveillance in recent years, challenges related to population density and urban crime continue to impact its safety ranking.

Karachi, the country’s largest metropolis, ranked 257th, highlighting ongoing concerns related to street crime, urban congestion, and law enforcement challenges. Despite improvements in certain areas, experts believe Karachi still requires significant reforms to enhance public safety.

Urban planners and security experts say these rankings underline the need for stronger crime prevention strategies, improved policing, modern surveillance systems, and better urban governance across Pakistan. Investment in smart city technologies and community-based policing could help improve safety standards in the future.

In conclusion, while Pakistan did not break into the top tier of the world’s safest cities in 2025, the inclusion of Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi in the extended list shows room for progress. With focused reforms and long-term planning, Pakistan’s cities have the potential to climb higher in future global safety rankings.
