Drivers in Sharjah are being warned to follow traffic rules more carefully as the city’s advanced “Rasid” Smart Radar System is actively monitoring roads and automatically detecting dangerous driving behavior.
The modern traffic enforcement system has been introduced to improve road safety and reduce accidents by identifying violations in real time. According to Sharjah Police, the smart radar can automatically detect several risky driving actions, including sudden lane changes, illegal turns, dangerous overtaking, and other unsafe road behaviors.
Once a violation is recorded, the system automatically documents the offense and applies the relevant traffic fine. Authorities believe this technology will help ensure better compliance with traffic laws while making roads safer for all motorists.
The Rasid Smart Radar System was first introduced in October 2025 as part of Sharjah’s broader strategy to modernize traffic management through advanced technology. Since its launch, the system has played an important role in monitoring driver behavior and supporting law enforcement efforts.

Officials say the primary goal of the project is not to increase fines but to encourage responsible driving habits and prevent road accidents. By using artificial intelligence and smart monitoring tools, authorities can quickly identify dangerous actions that may put lives at risk.
Motorists have been advised to remain alert, obey speed limits, use indicators properly, avoid reckless lane changes, and follow all traffic regulations. Failure to do so may result in penalties being issued automatically through the smart surveillance system.
Road safety experts have welcomed the initiative, noting that technology-driven enforcement can significantly reduce traffic violations and improve overall driving standards. Similar systems are already being used in several countries to enhance public safety on highways and urban roads.
As Sharjah continues to invest in smart city technologies, the Rasid Radar System represents another step toward creating safer roads and a more efficient traffic management network. Drivers are encouraged to follow traffic laws at all times to avoid fines and help make the roads safer for everyone.
