The University of Sargodha (UoS) is set to make history by becoming the first Pakistani university to establish an international campus and hospital in China. This landmark development follows the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Hainan Leyin Investment Co. Ltd.
Under the agreement, the University of Sargodha will establish its campus and a teaching hospital in Sanya, Hainan Province, marking a major step forward in international academic and healthcare collaboration. The initiative is expected to open new opportunities for education, medical training, research, and cultural exchange between Pakistan and China.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas described the partnership as a historic milestone for both the university and Pakistan’s higher education sector. He emphasized that the project reflects growing trust and cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese institutions, especially in education, health sciences, and research.

The proposed campus will offer academic programs aligned with international standards, while the hospital will serve as a platform for medical education, clinical training, and healthcare services. It will also provide Pakistani and Chinese students with opportunities for joint research, faculty exchange, and hands-on learning.
Education experts believe this initiative will significantly strengthen Pakistan–China bilateral ties, particularly under the broader framework of people-to-people cooperation. The project is also expected to enhance Pakistan’s global academic footprint and promote the internationalization of its universities.
Officials noted that the collaboration will contribute to cultural understanding and knowledge sharing between the two nations, while also positioning the University of Sargodha as a leader in cross-border education.
This development marks a proud moment for Pakistan’s education sector, highlighting its growing role in international academia and its commitment to global partnerships in education and healthcare.
