Islamabad has introduced a major digital facility for vehicle owners, making the ownership transfer process easier and more convenient. Under the new system, citizens will now be able to transfer their vehicles online from home through the Excise and Taxation Board E-TB web portal.
The decision was taken during an important review meeting of the Excise Department, chaired by Director General Excise Irfan Memon. Senior officials, including the Director Excise and other officers, attended the meeting, where the department’s performance over the last 15 days was also reviewed in detail.
During the meeting, officials discussed the current procedure for vehicle ownership transfer and agreed to make it more efficient and citizen-friendly. The main focus was to reduce delays, improve transparency, and provide better services to the public.
The performance of the E-TB web portal was also reviewed, as it plays a key role in enabling citizens to complete vehicle transfers online without visiting government offices. This digital system is expected to save time, reduce paperwork, and minimize human interaction in the process.

The department also assessed enforcement actions taken at various checkpoints, reviewing the performance of officers involved in road monitoring and violation control.
With the introduction of the online vehicle transfer system, Islamabad is taking another step toward digital governance. Authorities believe this initiative will greatly improve public convenience and promote efficient, technology-based public service delivery in the capital city.
