The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has approved a major recruitment initiative to address the long-standing shortage of teachers in government schools across the province. This decision is being widely welcomed as a positive step toward strengthening the education sector and improving learning outcomes for students.
Under the newly approved policy, more than 10,000 primary school teachers will be recruited on a contract basis. The hiring will cover both settled districts and merged districts, ensuring that underserved and remote areas also benefit from improved educational resources.

According to officials, the recruitment process will be conducted through a transparent and merit-based system. Candidates will be selected using the talent pool system, which aims to ensure fairness, accountability, and equal opportunity for qualified applicants. Final appointments will be made by Parent Teacher Councils (PTCs), allowing local communities to play an active role in strengthening their schools.
Priority will be given to schools facing severe staff shortages, particularly those where a lack of teachers has negatively affected classroom learning and student attendance. The initiative is expected to reduce overcrowded classrooms and improve student-teacher ratios across the province.
Education experts believe this move will significantly enhance primary education quality, especially in rural and underdeveloped areas. Hiring local teachers is also expected to improve attendance, community engagement, and overall school performance.
The KPK government stated that this recruitment drive reflects its commitment to education reform and human development. Officials added that further steps are being planned to improve teacher training, monitoring, and long-term sustainability of the education system.
Aspiring teachers across the province have welcomed the announcement, calling it a valuable employment opportunity and a chance to contribute to the future of education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
